Dove, as in the beauty brand, is continuing its quest to promote real beauty with a new campaign titled “The Selfie Talk.” Dove is taking on the digital distortion apps that put pressure on young women to augment their selfies to fit a societal standard for beauty. Take a look at the video:

The brand calls that video “the reverse selfie” which strongly showcases the pressure young women feel to look a certain way to they change how they actually look. Dove is also backing up the message with tool kits on how to have “The Selfie Talk” with someone you love be it a child or a student.

Yes, the power of this campaign lies in the messaging but it also lies in the net cumulative effect that the brand has had over years of supporting their unique platform of real beauty. Consistency is the hallmark here, and as a result real societal change. I continue to salute this brave brand for sticking to a much-needed message and helping so many along the way as a result.
